Mission Activities

“Mission of a congregation is the sum of the members’ capabilities. It is not simply meeting community needs.”

And keep in mind….. “Change can’t go faster than the oldest member can move.”

Memory Lane 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, continues to bring new people into the church for morning tea, activities, talks and presentations. Some days we just talk, and that’s when people really connect.

The Hallsville markets continue to bring locals into the church for a huge breakfast and pre-loved goods on sale.

We packed 49 shoe boxes this year for Samaritan’s Purse Children’s Christmas appeal. It was a big effort for a small congregation, but we are all willing and ready to start work on next year’s donation. Included in every box we pack, is a special gift, hand-made by one of our members.

We have purchased two mobility walkers for West church to aid with access from the carpark. Members of the congregation do a wonderful job of transporting the elderly members to church and other church functions and we offer taxi fare reimbursements when we are unable to arrange a ride for them.

The Mission Action Group (refer link here) is constantly review the Mission Activities – those currently in place are listed below.

Individual

Members of our congregation take on ‘gifted to serve’ in true spirit. Their activities include, Court Support, knitting Crisis Dolls, Prayer Chain, Stamp Collecting (which raises a good sum of money for charity each year), proving Music to St Andrews Village, volunteering at the Op Shop, donating to the Food Hampers, Walk to Emmaus, visiting, lay preaching, gardening, driving, cooking and cleaning.

Our pastoral care leader takes services at St Andrews Village as well as providing Pastoral Care. This year the role has become even busier with additional visits when a Tamworth Minister is not available to call.
