About us

The Uniting Church in Australia was formed on 22nd June 1977, as a union of three churches: the Congregational Union of Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia and the Presbyterian Church of Australia.

In 1999 the Tamworth Parish closed and the Tamworth and District Congregations commenced.

On 14 March 2002 the Gowrie Community Church joined with Hallsville Community Church and West Tamworth Uniting Churches to become the Peel Valley Uniting Church as part of the New England North West Presbytery which in turn is a District Council of the Uniting Church Synod of NSW and ACT.

John Nowland was appointed in April 2004 as our Lay Pastoral Assistant and sadly decided to retired at the end of 2010.

Since that time worship at Peel Valley has been led by visiting Ministers, Ministers borrowed from other Tamworth Uniting Churches and lay preachers from other congregations and within our own congregation.

We are a vibrant, healthy church. We understand we are considered small by some, but we are a family church. Our Mission is real and viable. We know each other by name and we care for each other. We study the gospel, we pray and we listen for God’s direction. We live by the doctrines of the Uniting Church in Australia.
We share in sincere, passionate worship. And we are genuine in our hospitality and friendship.

We enjoy the more traditional, practical presentation of the gospel.

We are an inclusive congregation, everyone is welcome at Peel Valley.

Please consider a visit to one of our churches; Gowrie, Hallsville, West Tamworth.
