A little bit about Gowrie

Gowrie is a small farming community situated thirty kms south of Tamworth. Gowrie Community Church, formerly the Methodist church, has been conducting regular services since 1933. Many in our congregation are descendants from the original families in the area. With many rural churches being forced to close, we are fortunate to be part of the wider community, who work hard for our church. Our beautiful country setting makes Gowrie perfect for weddings, baptisms and other gatherings. We welcome all newcomers to our church and community. Come and join us for morning tea following our Sunday services.

The Church has been sold

The Gowrie Community Church was sold in 2026 after services had ceased in 2024.
A closure service was held on 31st May 2026 attended by many of the past congregations and members of the Gowrie community. The Gowrie Rural Fire Service put on a lunch at the local Hall following the closure service.
